The winner will go represent Malaysia in Miss Universe 2009 on August and won prizes.

JoannaBelle is a 21 year old model who hails from Kota Kinabalu in the Malaysian state of Sabah. She is of Chinese-Indian ancestry and will compete in this year's Miss Universe contest.

This year's Miss Universe Malaysia contest showcases the unrelentless efforts by the organizers to raise the standards of Miss Malaysia contest. They invited Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova to sit as one of the judges. They also invited former beauty queens to the contest and allowed them to share their experiences to the contestants. Eighteen Malaysian women competed in the event held at Royale Chulan in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
