The summer break is over and slowly, the number of rumors in teh ESC-word is increasing, first dates are fixed and all eyes are on Baku.

2012 the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Baku in Azerbaijan. Is still unclear where the Euro Vision Song Contest will be held. At the end of August the ESC Reference Group met, the Central Committee of the ESC, for the first time in Baku. Questions concerning the situation of the people in the country and Visa rose up.

Thus, the EBU asked the authoritarian Azerbaijan for the first time clearly the guarantee of human rights on the ESC 2012 "Adherence to these basic fundamental rights are the cornerstones of the success of the euro vision song contest since its founding in 1956 - and 2012 is no exception," said the chairman of the Reference Group, Frank-Dieter Freiling. Civil rights activists accuse the management of the resource-rich Caucasus republic, to suppress the opposition and to pursue government opponents.

The Human Rights Commissioner of the Federal Government, welcomed Frank Loening's statements. "Only the request makes it clear how bad the situation of human rights in Azerbaijan is", said the FDP politician.

In addition to the guarantee of freedom of expression, speech and press freedom , the promise of simplyfying the Visa procedures for foreign guests was requested by the EBU.

During the meeting the organizing television, İctimai TV, informed on the present state of preparations. The executive producer, Adil Kerimli, who had acted since Azerbaijan's first ESC-participation in 2008 as head of the delegation presented several options for the venue of the mega-spectacle: the event could be held at an entirely new hall, just near the flag square, a strip of land in Baku arises. It has been revealed that this sport and concert hall complex is being built by a German company. A final decision on the venue but will be announced later.

Ivi Adamou to sing for Cyprus
From Cyprus was a name to hear. For the Mediterranean island, the singer Ivi Adamou is at the start in Baku. Adamou had participated in the second season of the TV talent show X Factor in Greece and finished on sixth place.

The Dutch are collecting ideas.
The Dutch have erected a large suitcase on the grounds of the responsible broadcaster TROS in Hilversum. Until 30 September suggestions and contributions could be made for Baku. The intention of the Dutch, who were eliminated in the semifinals in the past few years is to finally make it to the finals again.

Eurovision Song Contest for Morocco?
A call for submission of songs had taken place also in Norway - the period ended on 2 September. Besides, other countries like Israel have confirmed their participation for the ESC 2012. It is said that Morocco also has expressed interest in participating - that a North African country wants to participate in the EBU ESC is to hear almost every year. But whether in the end it really comes to that, is only determined at the end of the year, then the registration deadline for the ESC 2012 ends.

One thing is certain: The ESC-final will take place on 26 Of May, the two semi-final shows on 22 and 24 May - as always by 21 Central European Time Clock. In Baku, then it is in fact already midnight.

Switzerland is preparing for the Baku 2012: the search for a candidate for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 has started, the selection will be similar to last year.

Who will be the successor of Anna Rossinelli in Baku?
On an internet platform artists can upload their songs, start was the first September 2011 and finished on September 30th. Then the best 14 songs will be selected by Internet voting and voting of a jury's. Online voting will start by mid October. In a great live show on 10 December the songs will be presented. The audience decides by televoting, who competes for Switzerland in Azerbaijan.

One little sensation from Switzerland: Lys Assia, one of the most successful singers in Germany of the fifties, really applies for a participation in the ESC in Baku. No matter that she initially has to qualify for the Swiss preliminary, however: It could happen she wins. Becasue she found a lyricist and a composer - and both fit very well to her: Jean-Paul Cara ("Un, deux, troi", 2nd place in 1976 for France with Catherine and Sophie & Magaly Ferry with "Papa Pingouin" for Luxembourg, 9th in 1980) and Ralph Siegel (will he ever retire???)!!!

Guys you must pray for Armenia delegation.. They are in Danger if they acept in take part, cause Azerbaijan & Armenia don't have relations due to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict & and politics of hatred towards them and there will be a mass slaughter if they agree to participate.

The host nation, Azerbaijan will start on accepting the entries on Saturday, October 15 with the deadline on October 25.

I am so excited!!!!!!! The Serbian entrant for Baku 2012 will be the one and only Željko Joksimović!!!
I hope the Serbian forumers can confirm the news!
Željko is a veteran in ESC , 2004 (2nd place), 2006 (3rd place), 2008 (6th place and he was the presenter of the show)!!

The impeccable 2004 entry!!!!!!!!!!

Rumours say Italy is about to confirm its partecipation for 2012. RAI will probably organize a talent show whose winner will be sent to ESC

I actually liked the concept to choose one of the San Remo participants...

Germany will have again a public voting like in 2010: the 20 best candidates from 24 castings will be invited to in total 8 live shows starting on January 12th. The entry to ESC 2012 will then be selected by televoting on February 16th! Castings are done now!
